Town of Brookhaven looking out for your child’s safety

Dan Losquadro

Superintendent Daniel P. Losquadro is partnering with the Education & Assistance Corporation to have certified technicians check to see if residents have their child’s car seats installed correctly. Technicians will also teach parents and guardians how to properly install these seats, while providing essential information about child passenger safety. When installed correctly, in the event of an accident child safety seats can greatly reduce serious or fatal injuries.

“This program helps keep children safe and gives parents piece of mind,” Superintendent Losquadro said. “I want to thank the Education & Assistance Corporation and Miller Place Fire Department for working with the Highway Department to provide this important service at no cost to residents.”

The financing for the initiative is provided by Governor Cuomo’s Traffic Safety Committee to fund road safety programs for local children. Through the grant, a limited number of free seats will be available for qualifying Brookhaven residents.

The Child Passenger Safety Program will take place Wednesday, January 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Miller Place Fire Station # 2, located at 220 Miller Place-Yaphank Road in Miller Place, NY 11764. Inspections are by appointment only. To schedule an inspection, please call 631-363-3770.
