Allegiant Air takes summer flights off out of Islip

Allegiant Air says it won’t fly out of MacArthur Airport over the summer.

The low cost airline started flying out of MacArthur in December but will stop flights in late May and resume again in December.  The Islip airport has been struggling in recent years losing 46-percent of its regular flights from 2007 to 2012.

Anyone who bought a ticket for an Allegiant Air flight during the service suspension will get a full refund.
