(NEW YORK) — A top security official for the World Trade Center building has quit.
Assistant security director David Velazquez resigned Friday according to the Durst Organization, the company in charge of security of one World Trade Center.
Under Velazquez’s watch, a New Jersey teenager broke into the site and climbed to the top of the tower to take pictures.
A week after the breach, an investigation revealed a half-blind guard that was hired by the Durst Company was found sleeping on the job inside the Freedom Tower lobby during a surprise inspection. The security guard admitted he could barely see half the lobby.
