The Mixology Show
Thursdays 9:00PM – 9:30PM
Joel has been a professional bartender since 1991. Honing his skills behind “the Stick” at a variety of Long Island’s top establishments from sports bars, to night clubs, corporate chains and numerous private and special events.
Currently bartending for Events by Wolfgang Puck at the NYCB Theater at Westbury (Westbury Music Fair), Suffolk Theater in Riverhead, and Mill Pond in Medford (Anthony Matthews Catering) and many private events from NYC to Montauk Point.
Joel has trained thousands of people to become bartenders while working at just about every Bartending School on Long Island since 1998. He is currently running his own school, NY ACADEMY OF BARTENDING (NYAB), in Farmingdale with Mike Maupin. When owners and managers need highly trained bartenders they call NYAB to fill the void. Joel has been called upon to help open many establishments and has been asked by well established owners to help retrain their staff.
In addition to Staffing and Training Bartenders for Many of Long Island’s Top Night Spots and Caterers Joel and NYAB have recently been asked to help staff special events like “Beerfields” “The Belmont Beer Festival” and SuperBowl XLVIII to be held this February at Met Life Stadium in New Jersey.
Mike Maupin has been in the Beverage Service Industry since 1998. Starting out as a Bartender, then working his way up to become Owner/Operator of some of Long Islands Hottest Nightspots. Starting with the (still to this day renowned) Road House in Centereach and then opened the also popular hot spot, The Kings Club, also in Centereach, which offered a huge venue for MANY local Long Island musicians and also supported National Touring Music Acts. After The Kings Club, Mike moved on to the West Palm Saloon in Northport and is now well established at The South Beach Saloon in Smithtown.
Mike has been a member of the Suffolk County Tavern Owners Association for many years and is currently on the Board of Directors for the SCTOA. He attends all of their meetings and always stays on top of current trends in the business, both from an owner and also a bartenders point of view.
