Islip Town Councilman Steven J. Flotteron will join Building Department and other town officials in a press conference on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 11 a.m. to discuss public safety issues involving almost 400 homes affected by last week’s record rainfall. Many homeowners have not yet recovered from electrical and other issues. Officials warn that floodwater contaminants can create serious fire hazards if electrical wiring and equipment have been submerged in water.
Last week’s devastating record rainfall flooded highways and streets stranding countless motorists. They also downed trees, caused power outages, and opened enormous, unfillable depressions and severely flooded homes throughout the town.
