Potholes are always an issue during the winter months on Long Island.
So far this winter has been more brutal than most. In the town of Babylon, road crews say a freeze and thaw cycle is the cause for pothole problems.
Officials say its just a matter of water seeping under the pavement and freezing. When a thaw comes, the asphalt is loosened causing the tire eating menace.
Pothole’s have been a problem Island-wide so far this season.
